Bigger than basketball

NWGA Basketball Media Day brings high school teams from across Northwest Georgia together for a day dedicated to their players, coaches, and programs.

Athletes step in front of the cameras, share their stories and their faith, and are recognized as leaders before the season begins. Coaches get to honor their players, and the community gets to celebrate the next generation.

The event is produced by Fisher Basketball LLC in partnership with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Sponsorships cover the cost of producing it, so the day stays free for every player and coach.

How Media Day started

Started in 2022. This year marks the fifth NWGA Basketball Media Day.

In 2022, a group of coaches shared a vision for an event where high school basketball players could be recognized, interviewed, and showcased as leaders through the game.

Dawson Wehunt, a Berry College graduate, was among the first to champion that vision and help bring the event to life.

What began as an informal gathering in a small high school gym has grown into the premier preseason event in Georgia basketball. Each year the event has grown and evolved to better serve the athletes, coaches, and basketball community of Northwest Georgia, giving teams a chance to be seen, heard, and celebrated before the season begins.

Fisher Basketball coordinates the event, manages sponsorships, oversees logistics, and works with FCA and other event partners.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes is committed to serving athletes and coaches, and this event is no exception. FCA exists to lead every coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His church.
